Things To Do Thanksgiving Weekend
Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the winter holiday season in most places and Savannah is no exception. The weather is mostly warm and dry making it the perfect time for the many holiday-themed performances and seasonal activities. Whether passing through as you go "over the river and through the wood" to visit relatives or are looking for a special late fall getaway, you'll find plenty of exciting things to do over Thanksgiving weekend in Savannah. Check out these special seasonal events happening Thanksgiving weekend in Savannah.

Thanksgiving Day Dinner Cruise
Thanksgiving Day happens Nov. 22 this year, and once again, the Georgia Queen will chug up the river as it does on many a holiday. This trip is distinguished by a traditional Southern (pass the cornbread dressing, please) Thanksgiving Dinner. You’ll feel very American as the red, white, and blue-decked paddle-wheel riverboat departs near the spot where General James Oglethorpe landed way back in 1733. Of course, there will be drinks and dancing too as you sail past the historic riverfront, the world famous Waving Girl, and the tip of Old Fort Jackson. Make your reservations at 9 E. River St. or online at savannahriverboat.com.

“A Christmas Tradition” at Savannah Theatre
With all the glamour and glitz of Broadway, the Savannah Theatre is set to present “A Christmas Tradition” for its 14th year on Nov. 22-Dec. 24, 2018. The whole family is sure to get into the holiday spirit at this lively two-hour variety show. All your classic holiday favorites come to life with a live band and award-winning cast of singers. Sing along with Frosty, Santa, his dancing reindeer, and singing elves. Shows start at 8 p.m. on Tuesday-Saturday evenings. You can also catch the show at a special matinee performance on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 3. p.m. Find out more at savannahtheatre.com or call the box office at (912) 233-7764.

Boat Parade Of Lights Cruise
The Boat Parade of Lights is easily one of the most beloved things to do over Thanksgiving weekend in Savannah. Each year the Riverfront kicks off the holiday season with a parade of more than 30 gayly-lit boats. Events begin at 5 p.m. on Nov. 25 and include a tree lighting ceremony, holiday concessions, musical entertainment, and more concluding with a fireworks display. Treat yourself to the best way to see the parade by booking a Savannah Riverboat cruise. Board the Georgia Queen as she leads the way. You’ll have the best seats in Savannah as you enjoy live music, heavy hors-d’oeuvres, and cocktails. Board at 6.p.m to take off by 7 p.m. Find out more at the Savannah Riverboat Cruises website.
