Film aficionados, rejoice! The SCAD Savannah Film Festival is back this year for another eight-day celebration of cinematic excellence and creativity. From October 21st to the 28th, Savannah's National Historic Landmark district will be transformed into a film lover's paradise for more than 60,000 guests.

The festival, hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), will present competition film screenings, gala premieres, special screenings, workshops, and panels with some of the industry's top professionals, both established and emerging. With over a million square feet of space dedicated to the study of entertainment, film, and television production across their Savannah and Atlanta locations, SCAD provides the perfect backdrop for this celebration of storytelling through film.

This year's festival will showcase the best in both independent and major studio films from around the world. Over 2,000 entries will be considered, with more than 100 competition films selected for screenings in nine different categories, including Narrative Features, Professional Shorts, Student Shorts, Documentary Features, and Animated Shorts. With dozens of panels, workshops, and special guest interviews led by seasoned entertainment journalists, attendees are sure to be engaged, educated, and entertained.

Apart from the competition categories, the festival's Gala Screenings and Signature Screenings will also be a highlight, featuring top and soon-to-be-released films that will be vying for contention in the next Oscar season. The Docs to Watch series, hosted by Scott Feinberg of The Hollywood Reporter, will also present the top 10 documentaries of the year, while the Sketch to Screen: Top Animated Contenders, hosted by Clayton Davis of Variety, will put the spotlight on the year's top animated films.

If you're looking to attend the festival, tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, and can be purchased online at scad.edu/filmfest, in person at the SCAD Box Office, 216 E.
