Holidays in Savannah
The historic city of Savannah begins its whirlwind of holiday events on Thanksgiving weekend. After ushering in the season with a host of events like the Holiday Lights Trolley tour, a lively musical at the local theatre, and a spectacular moonlit boat parade, the celebrations keep on coming for Savannahians and their guests. From pub crawls to tree lightings, you’re sure to find plenty of holiday events around town to help celebrate this joyous season.

City Market Christmas
Savannahians like to celebrate their colorful history all year, and especially at Christmas. City Market has been the heart of this city since the 1700s. Get a glimpse of the Old Country’s Christmas while strolling through the two blocks of the market lit with over 500 luminares as carolers sing. Shop for gifts, get a glimpse of Father Christmas, and let the kids make ornaments and decorate cookies.

Christmas at the Beach
Savannah’s beach gets into the holiday spirit every year with its Lights On For Tybee celebration. Slated for Nov. 30, 2018, the event begins with a performance by the very talented flutist Mary D. The mayor will officiate the lighting of the big tree in the roundabout. A choir will lead guests to the steps of the historic Carbo House for more holiday entertainment. The kids will get a special thrill when “snowflakes” gently fall throughout the evening courtesy of the Sea & Breeze on Tybrisa Street.

The Tybee Island Christmas Parade follows the next day on Dec. 1 beginning at 1 p.m. It promises to deliver all the charm of a small town Christmas parade as it winds its way from the 14th Street parking lot to Butler Avenue where it will dismantle at the Tybee Gym. The YMCA will sponsor treats and a photo op with Santa.

Holiday Pops
There’s nothing like music to get into the holiday mood. You’ll be singing along with your favorite Christmas tunes with the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus when they will ring in the holidays with melody along with American Traditions Competition Gold Medalist Erica Gabriel. It happens on Fri. Dec. 7 & Sat., Dec. 8, 2018, in the Johnny Mercer Theatre. The Moon River crooner promises to be there in spirit.

Holiday Tour of Homes & Inns
This grand tour will give you a chance to experience the exquisite architecture and furnishings of some of Savannah’s finest homes and inns all decorated for the season. Between the oohs and aahs, you’ll be making mental notes to add to your own decor. You’ll have plenty of time. It takes place on Sat., Dec. 8, 2018, with two four-hour sessions.

Reindeer Run
Run, run Rudolf to the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center on Sat. Dec. 15th to participate in this fun and charitable event. It involves an 8K, kiddie race, and games and activities for everyone at any age. It all begins at 8:45 a.m. Your $30 fee gets lots of fun and benefits the local Prevention Education program at the Rape Crisis Center.
